English Language Arts (ELA)

At Gardner, we believe literacy is the foundation for every child’s success. Our curriculum challenges students with rigorous content while encouraging them to grow as thoughtful, confident learners and caring community members. Aligned with the Common Core State Standards, our instruction is designed to meet the needs of all learners through differentiation, culturally relevant lessons, and proven best practices that spark collaboration, inquiry, and critical thinking.

To make sure every child thrives, we also provide additional support through the Orton-Gillingham approach and our dedicated Academic Interventionists. These targeted strategies give students the personalized attention they need to strengthen their reading and writing skills—helping them become not only capable readers, but enthusiastic ones.
