Duke Ellington Conservatory of Music and Art, a 21st century State-of-the Art Pk—8th grade elementary /middle school is dedicated to motivating each student towards excellence. Our school offers a unique well-rounded curriculum of Fine and Performing Arts balanced by a strong emphasis on academic achievement. Our honors include:
- Top Gold winners and Grand Awards at the Metropolitan Science Fair for three consecutive years
- Thanksgiving Parade Float Design 1st place Winner
- 1st Place winner in the NAACP Art and Essay contest. Most students to enter and received top awards to be displayed at the DIA
- The Skillman Foundation Good Schools Award
- Curtis Granderson Music, Essay and Art 1st place contest winners
- Anti-Bullying Poster contest state winners
- First Place Vocal Music Competition Awards annually
- Superior Ratings for Instrumental Music
- Jazz Band students represented the district at the Detroit Jazz festival for 5 consecutive years and featured at the Evening of Fine Arts
- Dance students consistently win scholarships to attend the Blue Lake Camp for Dance
- Optimist Club Essay and Oratorical Contest winners
- Award winning pre-school program, recognized by Excellent Schools of Detroit as the best in the City
