Black History 365
We honor and celebrate Black History throughout the school year. During the month of February, we highlight special events during spirit week including a Black History Walk Through.

Student Council
Students in grades 3-5 vote on 1 class representative and students in grades 6-8 vote on class representatives and officers. Student Council work directly with the Ms. Bright, to determine activities for students.

Field Trips
Students attend Cultural Passports to enhance their understanding in cultures and activities they may not regularly participate in.
Teachers also plan field trips for their homeroom classes.
Students in grades K, 5 & 8 attend an end of the year promotional field trip!

Concerts
Each year, students in grades K-8, participate in the Winter and Spring Concerts. Students showcase things they've learned through song, art, poem, dance, and instruments.

Spelling Bee
Students in grades 4-8 compete to be the school representive for the annual WDIV Spelling Bee.

Science Fair
Students in grades K-8 complete science fair projects based on content learned. Students present projects in front of their class. Projects are displayed in the hallways for other students to view.

After-School Tutoring
Tutoring is offered for students in grades 3-8 for Literacy and Math.

Math Game Night
Students, families, and other stakeholders are invited to play fun, mind-blowing math games! Students play against each other, their families, and staff.

Literacy Night
Students, families, and other stakeholders are invited to an evening filled with fun, food, and literacy. Students introduce their parents to reading materials they are interested in and staff introduce students and families to materials that help encourage and improve literacy skills.

Monthly Reading Contests
Students are encouraged to read 20 minutes every day. Students can read to themselves, a friend, family member, etc. or have someone read to them. A parent should initial on their reading log to verify the reading time. Students turn in the reading log every Friday. Students who turn in their completed reading log will receive a free dress pass for the upcoming Friday.
Homerooms with the most students participating, receives a special prize at the end of the month.

Door Decorating Contests
Homerooms participate in door decorating contests to build team work as well as help emphasize content currently taught. Door decorating contests occur for: Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Black History Month, Reading Month, Women's History, Month.

Attendance Contests
Attendance contests occur to encourage and promote regular attendance. Attendance contests occur during the first two weeks of school, during Count Day, before holidays, and sometimes occur as a surprise. Only present students are eligible to win!
Celebrations

Promotion Ceremony
Scholars in grades K, 5, and 8 participate in a promotion ceremony to celebrate their achievements and highlight their promotion to a new level in education.

End of the Year Excellent Attendance Field Trip
Students with less than 5% absences for the entire school year are invited to the End of the Year Excellent Attendance Field Trip.

PBIS Celebrations
Students who exemplify the monthly components of Expect Respect, meet classroom PBIS/points, and attendance criteria are invited to the monthly PBIS Celebration. Celebrations include popcorn parties, panting parties, kahoot, scavenger hunts, and much more!

Perfect Attendance Socials
Students who attend school daily, with no tardies, are invited to the monthly Perfect Attendance Social. Socials have included pizza parties, ice cream socials, field trips, dance parties, karokee, free dress pass, and much more!
