Check Out Five Things You Need to Know This Week!
October Attendance Challenge and Attendance Tips This Week! DPSCD families, a reminder that the October Attendance Challenge ends on Tuesday, October 19, 2021! Eligible students can win prizes and gift cards by attending all their classes during the 10-day challenge window that started on October 6. Get more information by visiting http://detroitk12.org/attendtowin. Here are this week’s attendance tips:
- Ask for help from school officials, afterschool programs, other parents, or community agencies if you’re having trouble getting your child to school.
- Check your child’s backpack daily. Organizing its contents ensures all relevant documents, homework and supplies are prepared. Also, this provides an opportunity to ensure the backpack is free from anything that shouldn’t be in school.
- Encourage your child to get more involved with school activities. Sign students up for extra-curricular activities. DPSCD offers an array of opportunities from athletics, clubs, and the arts. Studies show the more involved a child and parents are with their school, the better their attendance and success.
