Garvey's Celebration of Learning

Celebration of Learning

Garvey's Celebration of Learning was a vibrant showcase of academic achievement and innovation, providing parents with a firsthand glimpse into the educational journey of their children. The event spanned the spectrum of student learning, from the earliest stages in Pre-K units on Buildings to the sophisticated endeavors of Middle School students crafting wind-powered cars.

In the Pre-K units, parents marveled at the creativity and imagination of their little ones as they explored the concept of buildings. From cardboard constructions to block towers, the children showcased their budding understanding of architectural principles in a hands-on and engaging manner. Parents were delighted to witness their children's enthusiasm for learning and their ability to translate abstract concepts into tangible creations.

Moving up through the grades, the Celebration of Learning transitioned into more complex projects, such as the Middle School students' endeavor to design and build cars powered by wind. This interdisciplinary project integrated science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) concepts, challenging students to apply their knowledge in a real-world context. Parents were impressed by the ingenuity and problem-solving skills demonstrated by their children as they tackled the complexities of designing and testing their wind-powered vehicles.

Overall, Garvey's Celebration of Learning served as a testament to the school's commitment to fostering curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills in its students. By providing parents with an opportunity to witness firsthand the progress and achievements of their children, the event strengthened the bond between home and school, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in supporting student success.
