Schools Around the World
Students in second grade are learning how schools around the world are similar and different. They learned about schools in Amazon Rain Forest, Tent Schools in Haiti, Boat school in Bangladesh and Doorstep Schools in India. In Haiti, tent schools emerged as a response to the devastating 2010 earthquake, providing temporary educational spaces in the aftermath of widespread destruction. These schools face ongoing challenges such as overcrowding, lack of resources, and vulnerability to natural disasters. Conversely, Amazon rainforest schools cater to indigenous communities within the jungle, blending traditional knowledge with modern education to foster cultural preservation and environmental stewardship among students in one of the world's most biodiverse regions.
