Summer in the “D”PSCD Things You Need to Know

All Schools Back to School Expos Begin This Week! From August 1 to August 18, Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) is excited to host the back-to- school open houses. This year, each school will host its unique event on a date that works for its community, providing students and families the opportunity to explore schools and meet with the staff. DPSCD Announce 12 New Health Hubs: During a press conference held at East English Village Preparatory Academy at Finney High School on Monday July 31, 2023, DPSCD Superintendent Dr. Nikolai Vitti and its partners announced 12 Health Hubs are slated to open over the next 3 to 4 years. Five sites will open in the fall of 23-34. Read more.

Get Ready for DPSCD Last Summer on the Block: Families, join the Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) team Thursday, August 3, 2023 for Summer on the Block. There are two locations and times to fit your schedule: Nolan Elementary- Middle School 1150 East Lantz Street Detroit, MI 48203 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. or Marion Law Academy, 19411 Cliff Avenue Detroit MI 48234, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. There will be free food, giveaways, fun activities for the children, as well as resources and enrollment support for families. Resource Tables now Available Saturday and Sunday at Eastern Market: Families, students, and staff, do not miss the chance to speak with District representatives led by Office of Government and Community Affairs. Beginning in August every Saturday 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., representatives can share valuable information on enrollment, employment, legislative agenda, school updates and much more. iCan Bike Summer Camp: The Office of Exceptional Student Education is excited to announce an amazing opportunity for students in the autism spectrum disorder programs and students with developmental disabilities. As a summer learning opportunity, Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) and Special Olympics of Michigan are hosting the iCan Bike Summer Camp. Reserve your child’s spot today!
