DPSCD Day of Peace September 22, 2022, students, staff, and parents are encouraged to wear white T-shirts and commit to healing and peace every day, while eliminating bullying and violence.  Students may actively participate through suggestions i.e., open spoken word, a peaceful march around the school, signing the banner to be delivered to all schools next week. FACE/Frito Lay Food Drive – Families please share with your friends and neighbors, on Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 11 a.m.– 2 p.m., at Martin Luther King Jr. Sr. High School, 3200 E. Lafayette St. Detroit, MI 48207 School Feed the Children, Frito-Lay, and DPSCD will partner to feed the families of Detroit Public Schools Community District. Each family that arrives will receive a 25lb box of food, 15lb box of essentials, a 5lb box of AVON products, Disney Books, and products provided by Frito-Lay, Pepsi, Quaker, and Meijer. 

ESE Townhall Save the Date, Tuesday, September 27, 2022, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. for the Exceptional Student Education Townhall: From Advocacy to Agency Empowering our Students with Exceptionalities: Join DPSCD’s Board Vice President, Dr. Deborah Hunter-Harvill to discuss current Exceptional Student Education supports and resources for students and families. The event will be held at Martin Luther King Jr. Sr. High School, 3200 Lafayette St. Detroit MI 48207. 

DPSCD’s Homework and Mental Health Hotlines  

The Homework and Mental Health Hotlines are open, and staff are ready to assist you. The Hotlines are open Monday-Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Closure dates align with the 2022-2023 Academic Calendar. 

The DPSCD Homework Hotline is a free resource available to all DPSCD students and gives students an additional platform to ask for help and emphasize problem solving skills. Students and families can call in for Literacy and/or Math homework help and receive this support from DPSCD teachers. Please dial 833-466-3978 to access and follow the prompts. 

The DPSCD Mental Health Support Line is another free resource available for all DPSCD students and families and provides online counseling by DPSCD social workers. Referrals for additional services may also be provided, if interested. Please dial 833-466-3978 to access and follow the prompts.
