Central Senior completing the FAFSA application with Parent..

The FAFSA application for the 2025–2026 school year opened on December 1, 2024. Each year, students apply to colleges, universities, and skilled trade schools to prepare for their future, with many relying on financial assistance to cover tuition and training costs. To access this support, students complete the FAFSA application to qualify for Pell Grants, work-study programs, school scholarships, and other forms of free financial aid that help offset the cost of higher education.

The FAFSA application is based on financial need, making it essential to involve parents in the process. Both the student and the parent must create an FSA ID (username) to complete the application. Additionally, the application requires Social Security numbers and dates of birth for both parties.

In January, a parent visited Central High School to receive assistance from Ms. Charlayne Watkins, the College Transition Advisor, with completing the FAFSA application. With her guidance, the application process was completed in less than an hour. Thanks to Ms. Watkins’ support, it was a successful and productive day for the student.
