Senior wins scholarship as a Black History Makers for 2023

On January 26, 2023, Jacie Harris, a Senior at Central High School, was awarded a scholarship from the McDonald's Owner/Operators of Michigan for the 2023 Black History Makers of Today Program. She will receive 1,000 dollars toward her tuition and the story will be featured on local TV as part of a celebration of Black History Makers- youth making a positive impact in their community during February.

For the award, Ms. Harris toured the WDIV studio in Detroit and was interviewed by a staff member. During Black History month, the McDonald's owner/Operator will present her with the check with family and friends present. Congratulations to Ms. Harris for being chosen.

Ms. Harris plans to pursue a degree in Journalism, and maybe we will see a Detroit Local station.

Presentation of Award

On February 15, 2022, Mr. Thrower, owner/ operator of a local McDonald's, presented Jacie with a check, gift card and a framed certificate. She can use the money for tuition and books at her chosen university.
