Congratulations to Rosalind Leath the 2023 Educator of the Year for K-12 Dance Sector. Each year the Michigan Dance Council recognizes a top Michigan educator who demonstrates outstanding teaching and mentorship in the art of dance. The Office of Fine and Performing Arts is excited to announce that Rosalind Leath has been selected by the Michigan Dance Council as the 2023 Educator of the Year for the K–12 Dance Sector! Eastern Market Book Fair Sunday July 16, 2023: Families, students, and staff, do not miss the chance to speak with District representatives led by Office of Government and Community Affairs. Available every Sunday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., representatives can share valuable information on enrollment, employment, legislative agenda, school updates and much more. Join us for Summer on the Block: Families, join the Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) team Thursday, July 13, 2023. There are two locations and times to fit your schedule: Mark Twain Elementary – Middle School, 12800 Visger St. Detroit MI 48217, 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. or Spain Elementary Middle School, 3700 Beaubien St. Detroit MI 48201, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. There will be free food, giveaways, fun activities for the children as well as resources and enrollment support for families. Join ESE at the African American World Festival: The Office of Exceptional Student Education will be participating in the African World Festival hosted by the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. This three- day event will take place from July 14- July16 at Hart Plaza. The Office of Exceptional Student Education will have three tents for our ESE students and families. You’re Invited to the second 2023 Peacenic: DPSCD Families fellowship with food, fun and games at the 2023 Peacenic, hosted by the City of Detroit, Detroit Police Department (DPD), Detroit Parks and Recreation and Various Law Enforcement Partners. Join the DPSCD Government and Community Affairs Department Saturday July 15, 2023, from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Heilmann Recreation Center 19301 Brock St. Families can receive support on how to enroll and get DPSCD swag.
