Renaissance Junior Amir Muhammad: A Rising Star in Additive Manufacturing

Amir Muhammad, a junior at Renaissance High School in Detroit, is making waves as the top research scientist in additive manufacturing (AM) at Ecotek Lab. Selected to chair the Additive Manufacturing STEM Education Series (AMSES), Amir is leading a one-day event aimed at empowering students with networking opportunities, presenting independent research, and exploring careers in AM. The series will travel to major cities in 2025, including Detroit, Baltimore, Atlanta, Houston, and more.

Amir’s impressive accomplishments include authoring a beginner’s handbook on AM best practices, mentored by Ecotek Lab alumnus Evan Morton. He has excelled in numerous STEM competitions, showcasing his passion for AM-related engineering. Starting his journey with Ecotek Lab in the 4th grade while attending University Prep Science and Math Elementary School, Amir’s dedication has been unwavering.
