Mr. Jermaine Evans

Mr. Evans has over 18 years of high-quality experience in teaching science, ranging from STEM inquiry-based classroom lessons to consulting nationally with American Federation of Teachers in Washington D.C.; he has a passion for pushing the envelope of learning well ahead of the intended target; particularly in the area of science and technology. Mr. Evans believes the world and what it has to offer is our ultimate classroom. All students can learn when there is a degree of relevancy and anchoring of experiences needed for life-long learners.

 Mr. Evans is a proud native Detroiter, who matriculated through DPS. A graduate of Redford High School C/O 93’, he received his undergraduate degree from Oakland University; his Master’s in Science Education from Lawrence Technological University and Education Specialist, General Administration certification from Wayne State University.

Mr. Jean-Daniel Ostertag

Mr. Jean-Daniel Ostertag has been in the field of education since 1989. He has been working in the Detroit Public Schools for the last twenty-four years. His career in our district was mostly spent at the Foreign Language Immersion School (FLICS). There, he first served as a homeroom teacher in the French section of the school. He was responsible for classes from the second to the fifth grade, for sixteen years. In 2010, he was asked to be the Assistant Principal of the school. In November 2015, he was asked to be the Principal of FLICS. His official tenure started on January 4, 2016. After a district leadership reorganization, Mr. Ostertag resumed serving at that school as the Assistant Principal. Since the summer of 2018, Mr. Ostertag has been serving in our school, here at Ludington, as one of the Assistant Principals.

Born in France, he is certified in that country as an elementary school teacher. He holds a French teaching degree and a French Bachelors' degree in Geography and History. After immigrating to the United States, he continued his studies. He now holds a Michigan teaching certification (K-8) with endorsements, a master’s degree in French Literature, a Specialist Degree in School Administration and is in the process of completing a Doctorate in “Educational Leadership and Policy Studies” at Wayne State University. In addition, he currently holds both available Michigan School Administration.
