Sunday Notes Week of Monday May 5th

Posted by Principal Perry on 5/4/2025

Good Afternoon MLK Family,

On Friday I sent out notes first of all stating that better financial checks and balances are in order and have been added to our business operations here at MLK. With that said I would like to reiterate the improperly leaked OIG investigation resport did not state directly or overtly that funds were stolen or used for my personal gain. I am sickened that this report forces me to even utter those words, but I believe for the restoration of my character and the overall integrity of the school I have to repeat them. As always it will be my faith in God and my belief that every decision that is made is driven by my desire that your student receives the very best education and social experiences possible.

The rebuilding, and in some case the building of trust is a slow process, but I am confident that it will happen. As for all of the noise on social media, and now unfortunately in the news I would urge you to tune it out and reflect on all of the amazing opportunities and love that faculty  staff  and I have shown to your student.

Tuning it out does not however include allowing behavioral norms to deteriorate. On Friday,  I had an opportunity to meet with district leadership and effective Monday May 5th including students who were involved in the events on Friday until the end of the school year any acts of fighting, school property destruction, or mass disturbance will result in receiving 10 days of suspension, finishing the school year from home, with possible permeant separation from MLK HS . As I mentioned in the Senior town hall last week Seniors please be reminded that breeches to behavioral expectations will negate your participation in prom and graduation. Remember poor decisions are just not worth the costs.

I am confident that by working together we can become the living embodiments of Dr. King's Dream, together let's all work  to ensures that becomes a reality.
