FDA Administrators Attend Recruiting Fair to Attract Future Scholars

Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men proudly represented Detroit Public Schools Community District at a regional recruiting fair on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Assistant Principal Mr. Lawrence Davis and School Counselor Ms. Desiree Merriweather attended the event to showcase the unique opportunities available at our all-male application-based academy.

Davis and male studentThroughout the event, Mr. Davis and Ms. Merriweather engaged with students, families, and educators, highlighting Frederick Douglass Academy’s rigorous academic programs, National Academy Foundation (NAF) pathways, GIS/technology initiatives, and strong emphasis on leadership, character, and brotherhood. They shared information on the school’s college and career readiness programs, mentorship support, and the application process for prospective scholars entering grades 9–12.

Their presence at the fair emphasized FDA’s commitment to recruiting motivated young men from across Detroit who are eager to excel academically and lead with purpose. By connecting with future students and their families, Mr. Davis and Ms. Merriweather continue to build a pipeline of scholars ready to contribute to the legacy of excellence at Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men.
