Eastern Michigan University Adventure

Eastern Michigan University Adventure

It is never to early to think about and plan your future.  That is how 71 third and fourth-grade students from Fisher Lower felt when they were willing to explore the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  Eastern is the alma mater (college that they attended) of Mrs. Stokes, the Principal and Mrs. Smith the School Social Worker.  As they talked one day, they thought it would be a good idea to expose our students to “higher level thinking” about their future.  Eastern was glad to accommodate our request for a visit because of their two former students!

The students were in awe about everything that they saw, which included viewing the dorm rooms, the dining commons and even Pray-Harold lecture hall.  They listened intently to every aspect of college life and had many questions for the tour guide such as, “Do you have a principal?  Do you get grades?  What happens if you get in trouble?"

Several students were so impressed with college life that they made a pact to go to Eastern when they graduate from school.  What a great ending and a great plan for their future!
