How DPSCD is Supporting Legends Rising in April
April’s Expect Respect Characteristic Trait is Compassion. We ask our students to lead the way by integrating our April ‘Listening’ Core Value as they learn and practice compassion throughout the month.
We celebrate Arab American Heritage Month throughout April. Students will have the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Arab Americans through school events and activities. In doing this, students will gain knowledge about the vast Arab history so that our community can grow closer together.
Report cards will be distributed on Tuesday, April 18th, and can be viewed in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. In addition to grades and report cards, the Parent Portal allows you to see your student’s attendance and scheduling information. If you need assistance with accessing the parent portal, please reach out to your child’s school.
The DPSCD Hiring Fair season is in high gear! The Kickoff Hiring Fair will be on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Randolph Career and Technical Center. We will be hiring teachers and support staff positions for the upcoming 2023–2024 school year. This hiring fair will be the first of four events where potential candidates can have walk-up, on-site interviews with principals from participating schools. We hope you interview with the largest school district in Michigan for a position that offers a lot of opportunities for career advancement.
If you’re interested in attending any of our summer hiring fairs, use the link to register and see which positions are available.
Students will be busy with state testing in all grades throughout April. Students should prepare for the College Board PSAT, which will be held on April 12th for 8th graders, and April 12–13 for 9th and 10th grade students. Eleventh grade students will be taking the College Board SAT on April 12th, followed by the ACT WorkKeys on April 13th.
M-STEP Reading for grades 3 through 8, and 11, will be April 25 and 26th. M-STEP Social Studies will be on April 27th and 28th for grades 5, 8, and 11.
Please note that MI-Access will be available from April 10th through May 26th for students with cognitive disabilities.
State testing will continue for all students K–11 in May.
