Check Out Five Things You Need to Know This Week!
DPSCD Families, students are gaining valuable experience by participating in Five Things You Need to Know weekly news. Students deliver a weekly video version to supplement our weekly copy. Watch below for this week’s Five Things News with Raymond Warner, a junior at Detroit School of Arts (DSA) and our student reporter.
#DPSCDProud ICYMI, congratulations to the Davison Elementary-Middle School Dragons. They are the new state champions for Academic Games! Also, congratulations to Mr. Christian Young, who won the Michigan Reading Association Adult Educator of the Year Award.
Facility Master Plan Engagement (FMP) Sessions will continue this week. There will be two online feeder pattern meetings on Monday, March 21, 2022 (Osborn, Denby and Pershing), Wednesday March 23 (EEVP, Southeastern and King), with each session running from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. On Thursday, March 24, the next in-person, districtwide session will be held, also from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Henry Ford High School. Parent Listening Session Tuesday, March 22: Your Input Matters! Hosted by Dr. Vitti & Board Member Vaughn, join us on Tues., March 22 @ 5:30 p.m. for a Parent Listening Session to share experiences and ideas to better support our students, and hear updates regarding school programs and summer learning. Be Legendary Student Talent Search for Level Up Expo: Attention principals, please forward the following message to your teachers and students: DPSCD students, do you have talent? If so, we are looking for you! The District is hosting the Be Legendary Student Showcase at the Level Up High School Expo, Saturday April 9th, 2022 at Cass Tech. Come show your community what you can do! If you or a student group from your school is interested in participating, please submit a sample video of your talent, a picture, or poem no more than 1 minute or 1 GB. Submit it using this link here. All talents are welcome! Submissions are due on March 22 by 11:59 p.m. to be considered for the program.
COVID Test to Stay & Test to Return: Test to Stay allows students who are close contacts to avoid quarantine and remain in school by taking a rapid COVID test at school every other day over 6 days. Test to Return provides rapid COVID testing at school for students returning on day 6 after a COVID infection (students must be symptom-free to return). As a reminder, anyone who tests positive for COVID MUST isolate for 5 days. If you would like your student to participate, please contact your school office for a consent form.
