Resources for Families with Possible Pause in SNAP Benefits Due to Federal Government Shutdown
October 31, 2025
DPSCD Families and Staff,
As many of you know, the recent federal government shutdown may pause access to SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits by this weekend. We understand that this interruption may create unexpected hardship for many of our families and the greater community who may rely on these benefits to access food and meals at home. Please know that this WILL NOT impact our ability as a District to continue providing students with free breakfast, lunch, and even supper at select schools for afterschool programs.
However, with that said, we are actively working with City and community partners to provide our families and greater community with greater access to food and meals due to the ongoing federal shutdown. The loss of benefits will undoubtedly have a negative impact on our students. Below please find a breakdown of where families can access goods and basic necessities during this time. Please also share this information through your social networks to better support everyone during this time. We will share this information as well on social media, our website, and through flyers if the shutdown continues through next week.
DPSCD Health Hubs / Family Resource Centers (FRCs)
DPSCD operates 11 Health Hubs / Family Resource Centers across the City where District families can receive food pantry items and basic needs assistance.
- Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Families may visit any location that is most convenient to them.
