Detroit Lions Academy Students Attend the Detroit Free Press "Breakfast Club" Event

Detroit Lions Academy students, Selena Clark, Elijah Hills and Tawauna Smith, had the pleasure of attending the Detroit Free Press "Breakfast Club" event, June 13, 2019 at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, Michigan. The focus of the event was "How to bring future Super Bowls, Olympics and other major events to Detroit". While enjoying a delicious breakfast, students had the opportunity to listen to the panelists of speakers that included: Detroit Lions President Rod Wood, Denis Ilitch (one of the original co-chairs of the 2005 Major League Baseball's All-Star Week held here in Detroit), Casey Hurbis (chief marketing officer of Quicken Loans who participated in bringing next month's Rocket Mortgage Classic PGA Tour to Detroit), and Bud Denker (President of Penske Corp., who is involved with keeping the Grad Prix in Detroit). This event is part of a speaker series presented by DTE Energy. The students were so surprised to learn that they were the only students scheduled to attend this exclusive event. They were able to mingle with influential individuals, engage in the topic of discussion and observe the atmosphere and interactions. Students took photographs with retired boxer Thomas Hearns, and Carol Cain, award winning Detroit Free Press columnist and host of Michigan Matters. The smiles on their faces in the photographs below prove that this was an exciting and memorable event.
