Pfizer Vaccine Available for Children 5 – 11: After CDC approval of the vaccine for children ages 5-11 on November 2, the District announced continued partnership with the Detroit Health Department to offer the vaccine directly to our students with a parent/guardian present at school locations. We will start with the major Districtwide clinics listed below but will also have additional clinics across the District at specific schools over the next several weeks. Report Cards Distributed on November 15 via PowerSchool Parent Portal: Parents and families, report cards will be distributed on November 15 through the PowerSchool Parent Portal, a platform that gives you improved access to electronic resources such as reports cards, your student’s schedule, and daily attendance. If you need assistance, please reach out to your school.
November is Indigenous Peoples Heritage Month: Led by the DPSCD’s Office of Equity, Advocacy &Civil Rights (EACR), the District celebrates Indigenous Peoples Heritage Month by presenting local and national events to our community. All month the National Museum of the American Indian is presenting Virtual Field Trips led by a museum educator that focuses on specific topics in Indigenous histories, cultures, and contemporary lives. Be Part of a Parent Academy Workshop This Week! Are you interested in transferring into one of the District’s six Examination High Schools in January? Board of Education Meeting is Tuesday, November 9 The next In-Person Regular Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 9, from 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. at Renaissance High School, 6565 W. Fall Examination High School 9th Grade Application Window is Open! If your current 8th grade student is ready to Rise Up with DPSCD, the Round 1 window is now open to apply to one of the District’s six Examination High Schools. Please note, the Round 1 deadline for 9th grade application is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021. For current high school students, the Round 1 deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 28.
