DPSCD Family Holiday Resources and Supports
One of Detroit Public Schools Community District’s (DPSCD) core values is providing service to our staff, students and families throughout the academic and calendar year. While DPSCD is on Holiday Break from December 26, 2022, to January 8, 2023, students and families can use this guide for access to information on immunization and vaccination clinics, academic enrichment exercises as well as access to mental health resources and much more. We can’t wait to see you back in school on Monday, January 9, 2023. Be safe and enjoy!
Vaccinations and Immunizations for the Community
In partnership with the Detroit Health Department (DHD), families can continue to make immunization and vaccination appointments at DHD’s 100 Mack location. A special holiday schedule will be in place December 27, 2022-December 29, 2022, with hours from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. For more information, please visit https://detroitmi.gov/departments/detroit-health-department/programs-and-services/immunizations or call DHD’s Immunization Clinic directly at (313) 876-4667. For COVID-19 testing appointments at Northwest Activities Center, 18100 Meyers Rd., please visit https://detroitmi.gov/departments/detroit-health-department. Similar to DHD’s 100 Mack location, a special holiday schedule will be in place December 27, 2022-December 29, 2022, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Northwest Activities Center location.
DPSCD Staff and Student COVID-19 Testing
DPSCD staff and students can continue to get COVID-19 testing from LynxDx at two school locations: Renaissance High School (6565 W. Outer Drive, Detroit, 48235) and East English Village Preparatory Academy (5020 Cadieux Rd. in Detroit, 48224). Each test site will be closed for the holidays from December 24, 2022,-December 26, 2022, and again from December 30, 2022,- January 2, 2023. As a reminder, normal hours of operation for the test sites are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday.
Detroit Water and Sewage Lifeline Plan
Developed in partnership with community advocates and water affordability experts, the new Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) Lifeline Plan is an income-based water affordability plan. It offers qualifying customers a fixed monthly rate that will significantly reduce their monthly bill – and erase any past debt. Please click here for more information.
Behavioral Health Support Through the Holidays
The hustle and bustle of the holidays can add to our already stressful lives. In conjunction with Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network, support is available while DPSCD is on Holiday Break.

Through the DPSCD’s Office of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I), you can keep your child engaged during the Holiday Break through an array of resources, from maintaining momentum with literacy and math instruction to games designed to enhance learning. Available Food Resources for Families
In conjunction with Gleaners Community Food Bank and Forgotten Harvest, families can get food support during the holidays. Also, led by the Office of School Nutrition (OSN), DPSCD’s regular meal schedule will resume on Monday, January 9, 2023.
