You’ve seen it on calendars and letters from Cooke, but what is iReady? I-Ready is a program that Detroit Public Schools Community District is using districtwide as a teaching tool for our Scholars and as a way to gage our Scholars’ progress across the district using standardized measures for consistent data. The program is unique in that it identifies the student's strengths and weaknesses and focuses lessons on a Scholar's weakest skills. iReady is a great tool for Scholars and educators to supplement and, in some cases, guide classroom instruction. An additional benefit is that Scholars can access their iReady accounts anywhere and at any time as long as they have internet access!
At Cooke, we have utilized classroom time to make sure that our youngest Scholars (Kindergarten through 2nd Grade) have had time to familiarize themselves with how to use a computer (during their computer science classes) and have allotted 45 minutes of iReady time per week for Scholars to use the software to grow and learn more about reading and math in a format that is different than the traditional instructional method. The iReady testing window for reading and math is open in December and we will be reviewing Scholar progress from the beginning of the year until now. We look forward to sharing those results with you!
