SNAP — Support for Detroiters

If you are impacted by the stoppage of SNAP food benefits, or if you want to help someone who is, here is what you can do.

1. FIND FOOD

To find one of the 90+ food bank locations in Detroit closest to you, visit the following websites:

  • Forgotten Harvest – forgottenharvest.org

  • Gleaners – gcfb.org

  • Metro Food Rescue – metrofoodrescue.com

2. GIVE

Make a financial donation of any size to any food bank.

Donate Food
Whether or not you donate money, we welcome nonperishable food donations that are unexpired, undamaged, and unopened.

To donate food to Gleaners, visit: gcfb.org/food-drives
To donate food to Forgotten Harvest, visit their warehouse at:
15000 W. Eight Mile Road
Oak Park, MI 48237

Protein items are especially welcomed (i.e., canned tuna, canned salmon, and peanut butter).

3. VOLUNTEER

More hands makes the work easy. If you have time to give, offer to volunteer at a shift at a local food bank.

To find a volunteer shift, connect with one of the organizations above to sign up.

4. ADDITIONAL SUPPORT

If you are feeling overwhelmed by this or any other challenge and need emotional support:
