Attendance Tips for the New School Year: Today, Monday, August 26, 2024, marks the first day of school for the 2024-25 school year. Students and families are encouraged to establish best practices to ensure your student attends school every day.

Set an alarm. Make sure students receive the appropriate amount of sleep to be alert and prepared for learning in the classroom.

Prepare the night before. Get backpacks and lunches ready to cut down on rushing to get out the door.

Eat a nutritious breakfast. Whether your students receive Free breakfast at school, or you prepare a home cooked meal, make sure students have enough time to get their first meal of the day.

Make sure the office has the most up to date contact information on file to stay informed about things happening in your school community.
Parent Academy Workshop-PowerSchool: DPSCD Families, come learn how to navigate the PowerSchool Public Portal to view key student data, including grades, attendance, teacher contact information and report cards. Come with questions Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 12 p.m. and get support from the Student Information System (SIS) team. Access this link to join the virtual workshop. First Day for the GSRP Pre –K is Tuesday, September 3, 2024: You still have time to enroll students who will be 4 years old by December 1, 2024, for this school year GSRP. Contact your student's local school as seats are limited. Please visit detroitk12.org/prek and fill out the interest form for the 2024-25 school year to start the application process. Student Performances at the 2024 Detroit Jazz Festival: DPSCD student performers will take the stage Monday, September 2, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the 2024 Detroit Jazz Festival over Labor Day weekend. Students from Henry Ford High School, Renaissance High School, Detroit School of Arts and Cass Technical High School will showcase their talents at the Absopure Waterfront Stage downtown Hart Plaza.
