November is Kindness Month

The Expect Respect word of the month is Kindness. This month Blackwell will kickoff a food drive collecting nonperishable items to donate on World Kindness Day, November 13, 2019. Throughout the month we will focus on behavior that exemplifies Kindness. As part of our morning Harambee we will include this Anti-Bullying Pledge :

“I pledge to support others who have been hurt or harmed, treat others with kindness, be more accepting of people’s differences and help include those who are left out. I pledge to help create a world without bullying through kindness, acceptance and inclusion.”

In addition, at the end of the school day once a week (MONDAYS) the classroom teacher will have students complete an exit ticket responding to the following prompts:

  1. How did I show kindness today?
  2. What could I have done differently to show more kindness today?
  3. How will I show kindness tomorrow?

Lastly, each class will conduct a "restorative" circle during the month.  Each students will pull a name of one of their classmates and say something kind about them.
