Staff Spotlight of the Week- Carl Brownlee: U.S. Marine and Gulf War Veteran Carl Brownlee is a veteran educator with 25 years of teaching experience. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Campbell University, a master's degree in public administration from The University of Michigan, and a master's degree in education from Marygrove College. Brownlee currently teaches eighth-grade social studies at Fisher Magnet Academy. Brownlee was also selected as Regional Teacher of the Year, Region 10, in the 2022-2023 school year by the Michigan Department of Education. Click here to read more.

Parent Academy Free Workshop- Cyberbullying: Join the Office of Family and Community Engagement Wednesday May 22,2024 at Neinas Dual Language Learning Academy 6021 McMillian St., Detroit MI 48209 from 9 AM to 10 AM to discuss cyberbullying and preventive methods families can discuss with their students. Register Today for Free Summer Learning Opportunities Through the District-Deadline May 24th: DPSCD Families, this is the last week to register for 2024 Summer Learning. All current K-8 students are eligible to attend and ESE students with IEPs who qualify for extended school year service. High school summer school is only open to students who are required to make up credits to graduate on time. Kindergarten Bootcamp (KBC) is a five-week summer program designed to prepare pre-kindergarten students and their parents for kindergarten in Fall 2024. Spring Testing Continues this week! State testing continues for ESE students in select programs to provide important information about what they know and can do across multiple subjects. For more information about state testing, contact your school.
