Student Spotlight of the Week: Congratulations to the Frederick Douglass Academy for Young Men Track Team who won Gold in the Michigan High School Athletic Association MHSAA State Finals with only three student athletes competing. Graduating Senior Anthony Buford took 1st place in the long jump and set a new state record. Also, graduating senior Adrian Smith came in 1st place in the 200-meter race. We are #DPSCDProud of these young athletes. We look forward to seeing you continue making history. #BeLegendary
Parent Academy Workshop- ASL American Sign Language: The Office of Exceptional Student Education (ESE) has designed an ASL course that provides students and their families the basic ASL signs. Join the virtual workshop on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and see how you can learn more about the ASL community and develop new skills. Join us for Summer on the Block: Families, join the Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) team Thursday, June 20, 2024, for Summer on the Block. There are two locations and times to fit your schedule: Davis Aerospace, 900 Dickerson Ave Detroit MI 48215, 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. or Bunche Preparatory Academy, 2715 Macomb St. Detroit MI 48207, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. There will be free food, giveaways, fun activities for the children as well as resources and enrollment support for families.
