DPSCD’s Greenfield Union Elementary-Middle School: A Neighborhood Crown Jewel
Inspirational teachers. A nurturing and community-based learning environment. A central location. Those are among the key ingredients that make enrolling your child at DPSCD’s Greenfield Union Elementary-Middle School a recipe for academic, social and life success.
“I want to be a doctor and be really good at it,” said Omari Wright, a student at the school. “I know I have to practice, go to college and practice for it. I hope I get it.” With an aligned curriculum focusing on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), Omari is getting a solid foundation to pursue her dream of being a doctor. Other students, such as Damauri Caldwell, revel in Greenfield Union’s small class sizes and opportunity to make friends. “I like Greenfield Union. You can interact with your friends, get an education and it has good teachers.”
Indeed, it does. Personable teachers such as Mark McClain and Judy Worsmer help guide the growth of their students by planting seeds for their future success through meaningful relationships centered on connection, structure, and empathy. “The teachers in this building are very caring and loving to the children,” said Worsmer. “The children at Greenfield Union are thriving because of that.”
