The Office of College and Career Readiness is looking for your participation with the Grow Detroit’s Youth Talent (GDYT) program. DPSCD School Spotlight of the Week: Congratulations to the Renaissance High School Girls and Boys Basketball teams and Henry Ford High School’s Unified Basketball team for winning the 2025 Public School League (PSL) Basketball Championships. The Renaissance Girls Team defeated Mumford in a close matchup, winning 55 to 51. The Renaissance Boys Team took home the championship title against MLK Jr. Sr. High School, winning by a 5-point victory of 69 to 64. The Henry Ford Unified team remained back-to-back Unified League Champs, defeating Frederick Douglass 34-22. Congratulations to our school teams and all the DPSCD student-athletic members who participated in the championship games. Your hard work, dedication, and success are a true testament to your commitment to learning and developing the skill of basketball.
DPSCD Student Spotlight of the Week: Jordan Sigmon, a junior at Renaissance High School and Imani Johnson, a senior at Renaissance High School, were announced as the 2025 Mr. And Ms. Public School League (PSL). Mr. Sigmon played a significant role in a season 14-8 record, going undefeated in the PSL championship, 8-0. Ms. Johnson successfully led her team to an 18-2 season record and also going undefeated in the PSL 8-0. We are #DPSCDProud of you both and all your accomplishments. Congratulations and continue to strive for Excellence.
Parent Academy Workshop: DPSCD is offering Free Cooking Classes to students and their families. Come join Chef Pashanee as she showcases her talents in the art of culinary. Classes are held on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Davis Aerospace Technical High School at Golightly, 900 Dickerson Avenue Detroit, MI 48215 and Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Breithaupt Career and Technical Center, 9300 Hubbell Avenue Detroit, MI 48228 (Enter through Door 2).
