Check Out Five Things You Need to Know This Week!

DPSCD Families, students are gaining valuable experience by participating in Five Things You Need to Know weekly news. Students deliver a weekly video version to supplement our weekly copy. #Rise Up with DPSCD’s New Student Hub Portal! DPSCD Students and Families: The District has launched the Student Hub, a new school and community resource portal available to all enrolled students. You are encouraged to access the Student Hub for academic support, tracking your attendance as well as checking on assignments, your grades, and so much more!  Join the thousands of students who are already using the new Student Hub Portal!  

Parent Academy This Week: With enrollment season in full swing, Parent Academy workshops this week can help with your students' rise! Be sure to check out our free workshops, including: KinderRise, navigating the transition to kindergarten on Monday, April 11 from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. and Montessori Demystified on Thursday, April 14 from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. Also, there’s an ESE Parent Advisory Committee meeting on Wednesday, April 13 from 4:15 p.m.-5:15 p.m. You can more information on these and other Parent Academy workshops at detroitk12.org/parentacademy. Required Spring Assessments begin April 11: DPSCD will be administering state assessments to students in grades third through eighth, as well as 11th grade starting this week. Read the web story by clicking the hyperlink. Tests will include M-STEP, MI-Access, WIDA, PSAT, SAT and ACT. Regular Board of Education Meeting is Tuesday, April 12 at 5:30 p.m. The community is invited to this week’s Regular Board of Education meeting at Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School (3200 E. Lafayette in Detroit) from 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. More information on how you can participate in public comment as well as view the meeting online can be found on the DPSCD homepage.   

Save the Date of Tuesday, April 19, for the Next DPSCD Hiring Fair: The District is hiring, and we want to hear from you! Plan to attend our next all-classification hiring event at Cass Technical High School (2501 Second Avenue in Detroit, 48201) from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19.
