Middle School students anticipate the Mercury Transit

On Monday, November 11, 2019, the Thurgood Marshall 6th grade Science students were anticipating the Mercury Transit. Ms. Smith, their Science teacher secured the solar telescopes from Wayne State University to watch the historic event. Unfortunately, the weather did not comply…..snow, snow, and more snow. The class set up the telescope anyway and watched the Mercury Transit via the internet. “Well, we won’t be able to see it again until 2030”, one student replied. “Now you see how an obstructed view interferes with seeing an object. Let’s try it again in 11 years”, said Ms. Smith. Great effort students...
