Thirkell Jaguars Show Their School Spirit in a Week Full of Fun and Creativity

The halls of Thirkell Elementary-Middle School were filled with excitement, laughter, and vibrant colors as students and staff celebrated Spirit Week, a special time for the Thirkell Jaguars to show their pride, creativity, and community spirit.

Each day of the week brought a new theme—and a lot of smiles!

Monday: Jaguar Spots and Stripes Day
Students kicked off the week in style by wearing their favorite animal prints and Thirkell gear, celebrating their Jaguar pride and setting the tone for a week full of fun.

Tuesday: Halloween Shirt Day
Halloween-themed shirts took over the school as students sported everything from spooky skeletons to playful pumpkins. The festive attire brought a cheerful fall vibe to classrooms and hallways alike.

Wednesday: Black, Orange, and Pumpkin Day
To honor the season, Thirkell turned into a wave of fall colors. Staff and students wore black and orange or dressed as pumpkins, spreading Halloween cheer throughout the building.

Thursday: Joggers and Gym Shoes Day
Comfort took the spotlight as students and staff embraced a relaxed day of joggers, sneakers, and smiles. The day promoted wellness, movement, and casual comfort before the big Friday celebration.

Friday: Costume and Dance Day
The week wrapped up with a burst of creativity and energy! Students had the opportunity to wear their Halloween costumes and participate in a lively school dance. From superheroes and princesses to classic Halloween favorites, the costumes showcased imagination and joy. The dance floor was full of laughter, music, and celebration—ending the week on a high note.

“Spirit Week gives our students a chance to express themselves, have fun, and connect as a school family,” said one Thirkell staff member. “It’s a reminder that school spirit is about more than what we wear—it’s about unity, pride, and positivity.”

Thirkell’s Spirit Week was a true reflection of Jaguar pride and community togetherness. The joy and creativity seen throughout the week reminded everyone why Thirkell is the Home of Detroit’s Next Legends!
