Dr. Connor spoke proudly about important individuals in the past who paved the way for so much of what we have today. He shared with students the stories of Dr. King and Rosa Parks, but also W.E.B. Dubois and Lena Horne. Throughout his message he reiterated the importance of strength, tenacity, having values and standing strong for what you believe in.
Black History Exhibit
The Detroit Children's Museum loaned artifacts for the Black History Mini Museum. The students were able to walk through the media center and observe the artifacts as well as projects that students created. The students learned a lot about black inventors and black pioneers. Students stood with their projects and presented brief statements about their person in history.
