Check Out Five Things You Need to Know This Week!
DPSCD Families: The District is engaging our students in our Five Things You Need to Know messaging by providing a weekly video version to supplement our weekly copy. This week, Kennedi Wheeler, a senior at the Detroit School of Arts, is our student reporter.
DPSCD Facility Master Plan (FMP) Update In 2019, Detroit Public Schools Community District had conversations with the community about the status of DPSCD's facilities. We held a series of community conversations and heard about priorities for our facilities. Today, we continue this work and share with you a 20-year vision for DPSCD's facilities and a series of investments to help us achieve that vision. We invite you to learn more, get involved by attending an upcoming community meeting, and share your thoughts by completing a brief online survey if you are unable to attend a meeting. In addition, read the comprehensive web story on FMP that includes a link to the plan as well as upcoming community meeting dates, times and locations.
Save the date for first district wide in-person community meeting on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Pershing High School, 18875 Ryan Rd, Detroit 48235. More information can be found at www.detroitk12.org/fmp
Through the Facility Master Plan (FMP), DPSCD proposes to:
- Invest $700M in federal relief funds to make one-time investments in our facilities to improve buildings to best serve our students and families.
- Offer our families improved indoor and outdoor spaces to support high-quality programs throughout the District, and provide the facilities needed to fully live out the District's vision and strategic priorities.
- Make a strong initial investment for our long-term facility's needs – which total over $2 billion – by making the most important, catalytic investments that will set our district on a path of long-term sustainability.
