Throughout the Five Things this week you will see a number of items that include student preparation for the next level, this is because our counselors are working hard every day, doing their part, to help students Rise! We are celebrating our Counselors this week, make sure you share how a counselor helped you, use hashtag #TheRiseContinues.
Winter Count Day is Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022: #TheRiseContinues this week with Count Day on Wed. Feb. 9. All day, Every day. We want to see you in class! See You in a Parent Academy Workshop This Week! Check out the 2022 Parent Academy winter catalog! This week’s key sessions include The Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Virtual Parent Advisory Committee meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 9. Understanding FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on Friday, Feb. 11, and All classes are free and open to the community. DPSCD Celebrates Black History Month; Experience HBCU Thurs. Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. Throughout February, the District is celebrating Black History Month with a variety of events and activities aligned with this year’s theme of Black Health and Wellness. Seek more information on the Black History Month resource page on the District website. Reminder, Thursday, Feb. 10, starting at 6 p.m., attend the next online session of our Experience HBCU Initiative. This session, themed CAP: College Application Check-In, will focus on the college application process. Speakers will discuss what makes a strong application, and DPSCD’s partnership with Common Black College Application. We need all college-bound seniors to Rise Up with DPSCD and beyond!
DPSCD School Spotlight: Communication and Media Arts (CMA) is a DPSCD Examination High School offering an academically challenging college preparatory curriculum with advanced placement (AP) and dual enrollment courses along with honor classes in partnership with Wayne County Community College. You heard it right, students in CMA’s digital media arts pathway can receive a nationally recognized certification. Get to know more about CMA by watching school spotlight video. The Round 2 Examination High School application window opens on Monday, April 4, 2022, at 12 p.m. We want to see your application!
Student Leadership Courses This Week: #DPSCD High School Students, check out this week’s courses including “Preparing Yourself for College and Your Career Journey.” You can take up to five Student Leadership Courses offered by the Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) and earn $25 per course. See you in class!
