Congratulations C. Igwe

 Igwe and the girls

Carrie Igwe, has spent her career teaching and caring for students with intellectual and physical disabilities.

Carrie graduated from Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas 1983, with a degree in Special Education. Using her degree, she worked 18 years at Mabelvale Elementary School in Arkansas.

Carrie and her husband moved their family to Detroit, Michigan where she received her master’s degree (Special Education) in 2009 at Concordia University in Ann Abor, Michigan.

She started her 15-year career span with Detroit Public School Community District at Erma Henderson Middle School and later transferred to Moses Field School where she served as the Student Activity Leader, Teacher Liaison for PACSA and received Moses Field Teacher of The Year award in 2014.

Being a teacher is said to be one of the hardest and one of the most underrated jobs to have but Carrie Igwe, felt it to be rewarding in helping students daily.

Carrie Igwe will be retiring January 2020, along with her husband she will be relocating to Texas where she will be spending time with her family and taking special care of her three grand children Noella Ruth, Macie Lee and Brooke Ngozi.

Mrs. C. Igwe, as you stroll through the beloved hallways of Moses Field School nearing your retirement. You will hear in every nook and corner voices of staff and students sadly whispering, “We’ll Miss You”. Congratulations!!
