The Biomedical Career Advancement Program provides high school students with the opportunity to gain the technical skills needed to work in a research lab, obtain hands-on experience and work alongside a senior faculty mentor at Wayne State University. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to rapidly improve their technical skills in a realistic setting outside of the classroom.
Selection Criteria: Rising high school juniors and seniors from Wayne County who are interested in health sciences or biomedical research are encouraged to apply. Candidates will be selected based on the quality of their application including academic performance, personal statements and letters of recommendation. (Students must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA to apply.)
Students selected for the Biomedical Career Advancement Program will be matched with a senior faculty mentor at Wayne State University and assigned independent research projects. Once a week students will engage in group discussions to talk about their research, career interests, and gain exposure to various bio-medical professions.
