    Coleman A Young Elementary School was Opened in 1982 by the Popular Mayor, Coleman Andrew Young

     
    Coleman A. Young Elementary School is honored by being the namesake of the powerful leader, Coleman A. Young, who was the first African American mayor of Detroit. He served as mayor an unprecedented five terms. His thirst for knowledge coupled with exemplary academic accomplishments is an inspiration to the students at Coleman A. Young Elementary School.
