Mrs. Andrea Ford-Ayler
A product of Detroit Public Schools, Mrs. Andrea’ F. Ayler is a graduate from Cass Technical High School’s class of 1971. Mrs. Ayler’s graduating class was the largest graduating class in the history of Cass Technical High School, with almost 1,000 students graduating. To date, no other class in the history of this school has exceeded this number of graduates. Mrs. Ayler was accepted to Ferris State College after graduating from Cass Tech, but soon transferred to Howard University where she graduated with honors. Mrs. Ayler attended the University of Detroit Law School to pursue a law degree, but was convinced early on that educating children was an even greater passion and quickly enrolled into Wayne State University, where she received a Masters Degree in Education and an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision.
Mrs. Ayler began her teaching career at Guest Middle School as a Reading Language Arts Teacher. She was later invited to teach at Northern High School where she taught honors social studies classes while wearing many hats. Mrs. Ayler was not only the School Improvement Chairperson, National Honor Society Sponsor, Testing Team Co-Chair, Senior Class Committee member, after school Christian Fellowship Sponsor and Northern Jayhawks cheerleading coach.
Mrs. Ayler’s administrative career began at Kettering High Senior High School as the Social Studies Department Head in January of 1998. Within seven months of her promotion to Department Head at Kettering High School, she was soon promoted again in October of 1998 to Assistant Principal of Trombly Alternative High School before finally arriving in July of 2002 as principal of West Side Academy.
