Dr. Roy D. Harris

 Dr. Roy D. Harris’ commitment to the academic triumph of urban students and to the uplifted performance of the schools they attend is largely evident in his 21-years of success as a specialized school administrator. Dr. Harris spent 15 of his professional years in academics, serving in Principal and Vice-Principal roles. As a school administrator, he arduously worked to boost the schools’ social, emotional, and academic outcomes for learners in his care. Fueled with passion by recognizing the great “Achievement Gap” in mathematics among school-aged African American males grades 3rd-12th, Dr. Harris worked non-stop to raise these statistics with results such as: · 27% increase in 11th grade math performance on state assessments · 160% increase in AP pass scores over a 2 year period · 95% average daily attendance rate (district high) from 2015-2018, resulting · 31% increase in the number of 9th grade students ending the school year Prior to receiving his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree from Olivet Nazarene University, Dr. Harris served 10 honorable years in the United States Navy. Also a product of the Detroit Public School system, Dr. Harris perfectly modeled and proved his belief that given the correct supports and motivations, every student can achieve incredible success in life. Dr. Harris currently serves as a principal in the Detroit metro area.
