Ms. Michelle Parker, Ed.S
Michelle Parker is the principal of Cody High School, Home to the Cody Comets. Ms. Parker is dedicated to Detroit students and their families. Since 1993, she has served as a teacher, instructional specialist, athletic coordinator, and administrator in elementary, middle, and high schools at Detroit Public Schools Community District.
Michelle Parker earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, a Master of Arts in Teaching in 1998 and an Education Specialist Degree from Wayne State University. In 2003, she earned her School Administration Certification in Central Office, Elementary and Secondary Administration.
During her tenure at Cody High School, Michelle has forged partnerships with the industry professionals. Principal Parker’s efforts initiated a Health Science program that provides students an in-depth science background to prepare them for college and health-related careers. Medicine and Community Health Academy’s first graduating class of 2013 had over a 95% graduation rate and a 100% college acceptance rate. She now strives to work with families, staff and the community to have Cody High School "Shine" as the beacon of light for the Cody Rouge Community. Ms. Parker believes that "Excellence is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, skillful execution, and the vision to see obstacles as opportunities."
