Mr. Damon Sewell
Damon Sewell is a product of Detroit Public Schools and a proud graduate of Mackenzie High School. After high school, he attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and earned a Bachelors of Arts degree with a major in secondary mathematics and a minor in social sciences. After completing his degree, he immediately returned to Detroit Public Schools and began his journey to prepare our future leaders for success. After 10 years of teaching math, he returned to school to obtain his Masters in Educational Leadership at Central Michigan University.
Damon's vast leadership experience began as an assistant principal at Central high school. He worked in several major urban school districts as a school administrator for over 8 years at the elementary, middle and high school level. His leadership contributed to increased student performance and extensive collaboration with various partners to support the school community.
Damon returned to Central in 2017 to lead the Trailblazers as Principal. He is a relentless advocate for students and is working collaboratively with staff, students and the community to strengthen instructional practices and increase opportunities for all students.
