Students at RBA have the opportunity to participate in basketball as an extracurricular. Students in grades 3-8 can try out for the various teams. The basketball teams at the elementary level are made up of girls and boys. They are given the opportunity to build peer relationships. They can learn the fundamentals of the game of basketball and also how to work with others to achieve a common goal.
In addition to athletics, students are engaged in various activities directed by Playworks. On a daily basis students are given the opportunity to build social skills through play. The coaches from Playworks utilize structured games during recess to build skills through play with students.
After school hours, students have the opportunity to participate in Parks and Recreation. This program is offered through the city of Detroit. Students in the program are able to receive homework help as well as participate in arts and crafts, sports, techonology opportunities.
