Gailynn Barnes
Gailynn J. Barnes is proud to be a teacher of Exceptional Students for 24 years with Detroit Public Schools Community District. She has taught in the self-contained Learning Disabilities Program for 19 years and has been teaching in the Resource Room Program for 3 years.
She is one of 5 children. Born and raised in Detroit she has an Associate of Arts-Human Services/Child Care Technology (Wayne County Community College, 1988), Bachelor of Science in Education (University of Detroit Mercy 1994), and a Masters in the Art of Teaching (Marygrove College, 2002). She has a Michigan Professional Education Certificate with endorsements in Learning Disabilities (SM) K-12; Elementary K-5 all Subjects (K-8 Self CC); and English (BA) 6-8.
When she is not teaching, Ms. Barnes enjoys spending time with family and friends, church, going to the movies, plays, shopping, and traveling. Her greatest joy is being there for her 2-year-old, nieces, and nephews.
