Degrees and Certifications:
I am a native of Detroit and a product and graduate of Detroit Public Schools. Upon graduating from Cass Technical High School, I received an Athletic Scholarship to attend Kentucky State University. I graduated from Kentucky State with a B.S. degree in Mathematics. After graduating I returned to Detroit and began teaching at Joy Middle School in The Detroit Public Schools District as a math teacher. While working at Joy I obtained my Masters in Education from Wayne State University and would later receive my Administrative Certification from Wayne State as well. My career with Detroit Public Schools has taken me from Joy Middle School to Southeastern and Denby High Schools, I have held positions of Teacher, Lead Teacher and Dean of Students at these schools. In 2012, I was offered the position of Assistant Principal at Bethune preK-8 an EAA School. In 2017, I returned to Detroit Public School Community District as The Dean of Culture at Cody Medical and Community Health High School.
I am passionate about cultivating and creating a school environment where student growth and academic success can be achieved. I am also aware that it will take the work and dedication of the entire Marquette Community to accomplish this. The old African proverb- “It takes a village to raise a child” has never been more necessary than it is today. Today’s students are met with many challenges, but together as a village and community we can work together to ensure that our students are on the path to success. As a member of the administrative team and staff at Marquette Elementary/Middle school, I look forward to working with you and developing not only the academic needs of your child, but the social, emotional, and physical as well.
