    Summary 

    HB 5366 amends the Michigan penal code to allow the legal carry of a concealed hunting knife or a pistol on one’s person or in one’s vehicle.

    Title 

    Weapons: concealed; concealed pistol license for individuals to carry concealed pistols in pistol-free zones; require. Amends secs. 5a, 5b, 5c, 5f, 5o, 12, 12a & 15 of 1927 PA 372 (MCL 28.425a et seq.). 

    Summary 

    According to the House fiscal analysis, “House Bill 5367 would amend 1927 PA 372, the handgun licensure act, to change the scope and purpose of a CPL license issued under the act... HB 5366 would remove the general prohibition against carrying a concealed pistol unless licensed.” This bill would allow individuals to carry a concealed pistol or taser in now-restricted areas such as schools, school property, public/private child care facilities, sports arenas, bars, churches, synagogues, mosque temple, and other facilities owned by places of worship, entertainment facility, hospitals, dorms. This would not extend to casinos. The bill would remove penalties that suspend or revoke concealed pistol licenses for some violations of section 5o

    Summary 

    This bill would waive third-grade retention for 2020-21; however, for the 2021-22 academic year proficiency requirements apply to 4th-grade4students. The bill would require the retention of third and fourth-grade students for the 2021-22 academic year.

    MI State Superintendent of Public Instruction will not approve a K-6 teacher preparation institution/program unless training is provided that recognizes: Characteristics of dyslexia and other underlying risk factors leading to learning difficulties.; Secondary consequences of dyslexia – problems with reading comprehension, vocabulary growth, background knowledge, etc. that impact social-emotional development.; Accommodation strategies for students with dyslexia and other underlying factors of learning difficulties; Methods for developing multi-tiered support infrastructure for students.
