Family Support
We are helping our parents and students with their technical and academic challenges!
As we get acclimated to Online Learning and its required technology tools and address the social-emotional impact the COVID pandemic has had on our students, the District is providing technical, academic, and mental health support to families and students.
Please call 1-833-466-3978 during operating hours and follow the prompts to access the Online learning Help Hotline, Homework Hotline or Mental Health Support Line. The Hotline does not operate on days that schools are closed for holidays. Please view our 2020-2021 Academic Calendar for dates.
Online Learning Help Hotline
Provides parents an opportunity to have District staff troubleshoot their login, access and navigation issues within Clever, Teams and Schoology.
Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday
Homework Hotline
Provided in partnership with United Way for Southeastern Michigan, the Homework Hotline is a free resource available for all DPSCD students that encourages outstanding achievement by giving students an additional platform to ask for help and emphasize problem-solving skills. Students and families can call in for help with Literacy and/or Math homework.
Hours: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday – Thursday.
Mental Health Support Line
The Mental Health Support line is also available through the Homework Hotline to provide online counseling to students and parents and referrals for additional services. Please check the Mental Health Support line page for information regarding their hours.

Troubleshooting Guide for Parents
-
What if my child is not in a class Team that he or she believes they should be?
First, reach out to school principal to find out which classes your student is enrolled in. When you are sure your child is enrolled in the correct class, please inform the school that your child does not have access to their Class Teams. School admin will alert the instructor to have them add your child as a member/student of their class Team.
-
How will my child locate their Class Teams?
Students should begin with opening the Microsoft Teams application from Clever. Students should then select the Teams icon on the left navigation bar. Here they will access the last Team they worked within. Above the Team name, students may select All Teams at the top, left to access additional Class Teams.
-
How will my child locate their Teams calendar and online class sessions?
Students should begin with opening up the Microsoft Teams application from Clever. Students should select the Calendar icon on the left navigation bar to view their calendar. To join an online class meeting, select a meeting invite from the calendar and double click to open. Students should then select Join at the top, right or access the "Join Microsoft Teams Meeting" link at the bottom of the invite.
-
What if my child becomes locked out of their student account?
Begin by double-checking that they are entering in the correct login credentials. If your child is still unsuccessful, you may submit a ticket with the DPSCD Help Desk or by contacting Customer Care at 313.576.0100.
-
How will my students and I connect with instructors on Teams?
Teams resources and guidance for families have been shared with families through the District's website, robocalls, texts, and social media. Teams has free local (313) telephone numbers and telephone conferencing for students with more limited access. There are also smartphone and tablet apps for Apple and Android with great functionality. These apps are all completely free to our students when they log in with their District credentials. If you have questions about Microsoft Teams, please email it.training@detroitk12.org.
