• Blackwell's fifth, sixth and seventh graders collaborated with each other and the Detroit Institute of Art Staff on Monday, November 18, 2019.  All sixty students were able to talk about distinct African -American art pieces. They examined the meaning, themes and the materials that were used by the artists. The discussion was led by students and triggered critical thinking and higher leveled critiques and questions. The artwork pieces discussed were: Quilting Time by Romare Bearden (Mosaic), Officer of the Hussars by Kehinde Wiley and Something You Can Feel by Mickalene Thomas.
