Special Assistant to the Superintendent
The Special Assistant to the Superintendent directly supports the day-to-day operations and Districtwide initiatives of Superintendent Dr. Nikolai P. Vitti.
Additionally, the Special Assistant to the Superintendent is responsible for leading the following District departments and processes:
- Board Relations: The Special Assistant to the Superintendent ensures that information is timely provided to the Board of Education and that this information is also readily available to all stakeholders. In addition, the Special Assistant also manages the adoption and review process for Board Policy and Administrative Guidelines. Signature projects include:
- BoardDocs: Board Meeting Document Archives
- Administrative Submissions to Board Agenda
- Office of High School Transformation: The High School Transformation Office centers relationships, reinvigorating leaders(hip), advancing achievement, and accelerating student performance and career readiness through a targeted three-year focus.
- Year One (2021-2022) Hyperfocus on Thrive domains: Culture and Community Builder and Instructional Leader
- Year Two (2022-2023) Enhance year one focus with emphasis on Thrive domains: Talent Manager and Operations Expert
- Year Three (2023-2024) Intensify years one and two in tandem with the final Thrive domain: Commitment to School and Community
- Office of Leadership Development: Effective leadership is vital for promoting student achievement. This office works with current and aspiring leaders within and outside of DPSCD to cultivate a sustainable leadership pipeline to elevate the excellence of the District. We are on a mission to attract and empower leaders who position the District as a prototype for the nation through quality training and development through the following pathways:
- Clerical Excellence Institute
- Exploring Campus Leadership
- Instructional Leaders Academy (in partnership with New Leaders)
- Principal Residency Opportunity (PRO)
- Next Level Leaders
- New Principal/Assistant Principal Cohort
- High School Guidance & Counseling Program: Guidance and Counseling is a comprehensive and proactive program of specialized activities that assist students in identifying, planning, and attaining those goals and employment opportunities consistent with their aptitude, needs, abilities, and interests. The High School Guidance and Counseling program includes academic planning for all students to be college and career ready.
- Military Science Program: The U.S. Army’s Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) promotes character and leadership development for students that participate. It offers a rigorous curriculum aligned with the Common Core State Standards for high school students that are cadets. This includes citizenship and leadership development, use of technology, and improving physical fitness.
